In Belize, many businesses are busiest exactly when they have the least time for marketing. From December to April the lodges, dive shops and tour desks are full. During hurricane season, managers are watching forecasts rather than writing newsletters. Automated emails take care of routine messages: once a trigger and a message are set up, Mailpro sends each email when the contact reaches that point, with no one pressing “send”.

Automations that suit Belizean businesses

Welcome series for new subscribers

Someone who signs up on your website or scans the QR code at your front desk is paying attention right then. A welcome email sent immediately, followed by one or two more over the next week, introduces your business while they still remember you. A Placencia restaurant might send its menu and opening hours. A San Pedro dive shop might send its course calendar.

Pre-arrival and post-stay emails

Triggered from the booking date, a pre-arrival email can cover ferry or domestic-flight connections, what to pack for the jungle or the cayes, and the currency (the Belize dollar is pegged at two to one against the US dollar, and US dollars are widely accepted). After checkout, a thank-you with a review request, followed a few months later by a return offer, turns one stay into repeat business.

Birthday and anniversary messages

If you collect a date of birth, birthday emails send a greeting and perhaps a voucher on the right day each year. Supermarkets, pharmacies, salons and restaurants all use them.

Click-based follow-ups

When a subscriber clicks on “Cave tubing” in your newsletter, an automation can send them more details on that tour a day later. Interest, not guesswork, decides what they receive next.

Why automation works for small teams

  • Consistency: every new contact gets the same well-written sequence, even during peak season.
  • Timing: messages go out relative to each person’s signup, booking or birthday, not when you remember.
  • Language: separate English and Spanish versions can run side by side, chosen by a contact field.
  • Measurement: each automated email has its own statistics, so you can see which step works. See automated email statistics.

Examples by sector

  • Retail: a welcome voucher for new subscribers, then a reminder when it is about to expire.
  • Professional services: an onboarding sequence for new clients explaining documents, deadlines and who to contact.
  • Associations and co-operatives: membership renewal reminders sent a month and a week before the due date.
  • Tourism: a green-season offer sent to past guests on the anniversary of their stay.

Automation sends more email with less oversight, so it must be built on permission. Belize’s Data Protection Act, 2021 gives every person the right to stop direct marketing, and many of your guests’ home countries require opt-in consent. Mailpro includes an unsubscribe link in every automated marketing email and removes opt-outs from all sequences. Purely transactional messages, such as a booking confirmation, are a separate category from promotional follow-ups. Our Belize email marketing law guide explains the difference.

Getting started

Automations are built visually in Mailpro’s automation workspace: choose a trigger, add emails and delays, then activate. For a walk-through, read how to send automated emails from Belize.
