India is a market where assumptions travel badly. What customers want in Mumbai may differ from what they want in Guwahati; what worked for last year’s batch of students may not work for this one. Online surveys give you direct answers, and Mailpro lets you send them to the same lists you already email.

Surveys Indian organisations run

  • Customer satisfaction after a purchase or service visit, including delivery experience for e-commerce. See the customer satisfaction survey template.
  • Product research for D2C and SaaS teams deciding what to build or stock next, especially before the festive season.
  • Course and teacher feedback for schools, colleges, coaching institutes and edtech platforms.
  • Employee engagement for IT services firms and other large employers.
  • Event feedback after conferences, webinars and trade shows.

Design surveys that people finish

Short and mobile-friendly

Most respondents will answer on a phone. Keep surveys brief, use tap-friendly question types (scales, multiple choice) and save open questions for the end.

Relevant questions only

Use branching logic to show follow-up questions only to the people they apply to. A customer who rated delivery five stars does not need to explain what went wrong.

In the respondent’s language

Offer the survey in the language your respondents prefer. A Hindi or Telugu version can reach people who would skip an English one, and answers will be more honest when people can express themselves easily.

Send and share

Send the survey to a segment of your list by email, or share it by link through WhatsApp, SMS, social media or a QR code on a receipt. Timing matters: send customer-experience surveys shortly after delivery, and avoid festival days when people are busy celebrating.

Analyse the results

Responses appear as they come in, with charts in survey statistics. Compare answers by city, customer type or language to see where experiences differ, then act on the most common complaints first.

Respect respondents’ data

Survey answers linked to a name or email address are personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. Tell respondents why you are asking and how answers will be used, collect only what you need, and consider anonymous surveys where individual follow-up is not necessary. Take particular care with surveys of students under 18. Mailpro stores responses in Switzerland, outside US jurisdiction, and never sells or rents them; see our GDPR compliance page for how data is handled.

Survey questions that work well in India

  • Net-promoter style: “How likely are you to recommend us to a friend or family member?” Word of mouth carries weight in Indian buying decisions.
  • Delivery experience: timeliness, packaging and the courier’s behaviour, rated separately so you know which partner to talk to.
  • Payment preference: whether customers prefer UPI, cards, cash on delivery or EMI options, to guide checkout changes.
  • Language preference: which language they would like future emails in, feeding directly into your segments.
  • Open feedback: “What one thing should we improve?” at the end.

Keep rating scales consistent across surveys so you can compare results over time.
