Improving your Deliverability Score isn't mysterious. There are three high-leverage actions, in order of impact, that move the needle for almost every sender.
1. Fix authentication first
Configure SPF, DKIM and DMARC on every sending domain. The Deliverability Center shows you exactly which records are missing or broken — usually a 30-minute fix that moves you from Fair to Healthy.
2. Clean your list
Remove addresses that hard-bounce. Re-engage or remove subscribers who haven't opened anything in 6 months. Stop emailing role addresses (info@, contact@, support@) — they don't engage and often turn into spam traps. List hygiene is the single most controllable factor in your bounce rate.
3. Watch your complaint rate
Your spam complaint rate should stay below 0.3%. Above that, mailbox providers start filtering you aggressively. Make unsubscribe one click, send to people who actually want to hear from you, and stop using urgent or clickbait subject lines.
What doesn't help as much as people think
- Rewriting your copy. Content quality is only 20% of your Global Score. Spending hours on subject lines won't save you if authentication is broken.
- Switching email platforms. A new ESP doesn't fix sender reputation — your domain reputation follows you.
- Sending less. Reducing volume hurts more than it helps. Mailbox providers want consistent sending behavior, not radio silence.
