You are the association! Tell us what you appreciate and what you would like to see change. About 4 minutes.

Use this template

This membership survey invites the members of your association to say what they appreciate, how involved they are and what they would like to see change. Over three short pages, about four minutes, it combines a few profile questions, ratings, a recommendation question and open suggestions.

What is a member survey for?

An association lives through its members, yet the board often hears only from the most active ones. This survey gives everyone a voice. The template asks how long people have been members and how often they take part, then lets them rate aspects such as activities, communication, the atmosphere or value for the fee. The recommendation question shows how willing members are to bring in friends and relatives. Finally, open questions collect ideas for future projects, and members can say whether they would like to volunteer, regularly or from time to time.

Who is it for?

  • Sports clubs and cultural associations preparing their annual general meeting
  • Professional networks and chambers checking the value of membership
  • Charities and NGOs that rely on supporters and volunteers
  • Alumni associations and parents' associations

How to adapt it in Mailpro

Adjust the aspects to rate and the volunteering options to your own organisation, and rewrite the introduction in the tone you use with members. Add your logo and colours, then share the survey by link, by QR code at your next event or in the Mailpro newsletter you send to members. Answers arrive in Mailpro. You can set tags on contacts according to their answers, for instance to build a list of members ready to volunteer and contact them directly.

Tips

  • Send the survey a few weeks before the general meeting so you can present the results there.
  • Make the name and email optional if you want frank opinions on sensitive topics.
  • Thank volunteers quickly: a prompt reply turns good intentions into real help.
  • Repeat it every year or two with the same core membership survey questions to follow trends.

Frequently asked questions

Which association membership survey questions are essential?

Length of membership, participation, satisfaction with the main activities and willingness to recommend form a good base, plus one open question for ideas.

Is this the same as a member satisfaction survey?

It includes satisfaction, but goes further by asking about future projects and volunteering.

Should non-active members receive it?

Yes. Their answers often explain why participation is low.
