Short answer: a smartphone is the most common way to receive your Mailpro 2FA codes, but it is not strictly required. Any device that runs a TOTP app — phone, tablet, laptop or browser — works. What you do need is the same device every time you sign in.
Devices you can use as your second factor
| Device | Authenticator option |
|---|---|
| Smartphone | Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, etc. |
| Tablet | Same authenticator apps; works offline |
| Laptop / desktop | Authy desktop, 1Password, Bitwarden, KeePassXC |
| Browser | 1Password / Bitwarden browser extensions |
What if you don’t have a smartphone?
Use a desktop authenticator or a password manager that supports TOTP (1Password, Bitwarden). The QR code shown during setup can be scanned by these tools just like a phone app.
What if you lose access to your authenticator?
This is exactly what the recovery codes are for. Store them somewhere safe (password manager, printed copy in a drawer) and use one to sign in if your phone is lost, broken or replaced. After signing in, set up 2FA again on a new device.

Don’t skip 2FA because of the phone question
You can use a tablet, a desktop app or a password manager — pick whatever you already have. Then follow double authentication setup and store the recovery codes.
