When your booking engine or online shop sends email through the Mailpro API, you need to know that those messages arrive. A missing confirmation can mean a guest who doubts their booking, or a customer who calls the office asking whether their order went through. Mailpro’s statistics and webhooks give you that visibility.
What Mailpro tracks for API emails
- Delivered: accepted by the recipient’s mail server.
- Bounced: rejected, either permanently (hard bounce) or temporarily (soft bounce).
- Opened: the email was opened, where the email app allows tracking.
- Clicked: a link in the email was clicked.
- Unsubscribed or complained: the recipient opted out or marked the message as spam.
These appear in your dashboard, with detailed reports and global statistics across all your sending.
Real-time events with webhooks
Instead of checking the dashboard, your application can receive events automatically. Configure webhooks and Mailpro will notify your server each time a message is delivered, bounces, is opened or is clicked. The delivery status FAQ explains each status.
Practical uses for Grenadian businesses
Hotels and villas
If a booking confirmation bounces, flag the reservation so the front desk can contact the guest by phone or SMS before arrival. That matters when guests book from abroad and a simple typo in the email address can go unnoticed.
Online shops
Track whether shipping notifications for international orders of spices or chocolate are opened. If many are not, consider an SMS alongside.
Schools and training providers
Confirm that enrolment and password emails reach students, and follow up quickly on bounces at the start of term.
Where recipients are and what they use
Geo-tracking shows the countries where emails are opened. For a Grenadian business, that often reveals how much of your audience is overseas, in North America, the UK or elsewhere in the Caribbean, which can shape your send times and content.
Reading the numbers well
- Bounce rate: for transactional email, aim for very few bounces. A rise usually means a problem with how addresses are captured, such as no confirmation field on the booking form.
- Open rate: useful for trends, but some email apps block or pre-load images, so treat it as an indicator.
- Clicks: the clearest sign that people are acting on your message.
Schedule and test
Use scheduling for non-urgent API sends such as reminders, timed for Atlantic Standard Time or the recipient’s time zone. Test changes on a small group before rolling them out.
Data and privacy
Tracking data is personal data. Mailpro stores it in Switzerland, outside US jurisdiction, and never sells or rents it. Grenada’s Data Protection Act, 2023 is not yet in force, but using tracking data only for its stated purpose is good practice now.
Building your own dashboard
Because the API also exposes statistics, you can pull delivery and engagement figures into your own reporting, such as a hotel’s daily operations report or a shop’s order management screen. That puts delivery problems in front of the staff who can act on them, instead of in a separate tool nobody checks.
Alerts worth setting up
Ask your developer to raise an alert when bounces or failures pass a threshold within an hour. A sudden spike often means a configuration problem, such as an expired credential or a changed DNS record, that is easy to fix if you catch it quickly.
