A subscription form is where every good email list begins. For a Saint Lucian business, it has two jobs: persuade locals and visitors to sign up, and record their consent clearly enough to satisfy both Saint Lucian law and the rules of the countries your subscribers live in.

Keep the fields to a minimum

  • Email address: required.
  • First name: optional but useful for personalisation.
  • “I live in Saint Lucia” or “I am visiting”: a single choice that lets you send local offers to residents and travel content to visitors.

Every additional field reduces sign-ups. You can ask for more later.

Write a reason to subscribe

“Subscribe to our newsletter” gives nobody a reason. Try instead:

  • A restaurant: “Get our Friday specials and event nights first.”
  • A resort: “Returning-guest rates and news from the Pitons, once a month.”
  • A shop: “New arrivals, Independence Day and Christmas offers.”
  • An NGO: “Stories from our volunteers across the island.”

Use an unticked checkbox or make the purpose of the form unmistakable, and say how often you will write. Link to your privacy notice. Saint Lucia’s Data Protection Act 2011 expects fair collection for a stated purpose; subscribers from Canada, the EU or the UK bring stricter consent rules with them. Clear wording covers everyone.

Turn on double opt-in

With double opt-in, subscribers confirm by clicking a link in a first email. You get proof of consent with a date and time, and you avoid typos and fake addresses. It is especially useful for lists that include international visitors. Our FAQ on opt-in and double opt-in explains the difference.

Where to place it

  • On your website’s home page and footer, and after a blog post.
  • In the booking confirmation page.
  • On a tablet at reception, on the bar, or at the spa desk.
  • As a QR code on menus, receipts, tour boats and event tickets.
  • At the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival, Carnival events or trade fairs abroad.

Build it in Mailpro

Use Mailpro’s sign-up form builder. Choose fields, add your logo and colours, enable double opt-in, and connect the form to the right list. New subscribers can receive an automatic welcome email right away.

Welcome them properly

The first email after sign-up is the most read. Thank the subscriber, remind them what they will receive, and offer something small: a guide, a recipe, a discount on their next visit.

Subscriber data is stored in Switzerland, outside US jurisdiction, and never sold or rented. More on forms in online forms in Saint Lucia.
