Email automation is the practice of sending pre-built emails to your contacts automatically — triggered by a date, a contact action, or a list event — without you having to press "send" each time. It is the engine of modern email marketing: relevant message, right contact, right moment, without manual effort.

Why it matters: automated journeys generate more revenue and engagement per contact than one-off blasts, because the message arrives when the contact is paying attention.

How it works

  • Trigger — a contact subscribes to a list, a tag is applied, a birthday arrives, or a custom date is reached.
  • Workflow — Mailpro runs the rule you have defined (e.g. "send welcome → wait 3 days → send tutorial").
  • Personalization — dynamic fields fill in first name, language, country, anything on the contact record.
  • Send — the email or SMS goes out at the right moment, even while you sleep.

What triggers Mailpro supports today

The four triggers shipped with the current Mailpro automation module are Birthday, Specific date field, List subscribe / unsubscribe, and Tag added / removed. Combined with the available actions — send email, send SMS, add tag, add to list, internal alert — they cover welcome series, birthday emails, renewal reminders, post-tag follow-ups and internal-sales alerts. Browse the full set on the triggers page and the actions page.

The most common journey patterns

  • Welcome series — 3 to 5 emails to onboard a new subscriber.
  • Date-based — birthday, anniversary, contract renewal, expiry reminder.
  • Tag-driven — tag set by a form or an integration triggers a follow-up sequence.
