Activating Mailpro’s double opt-in feature is the safest way to grow a clean, GDPR-compliant subscriber list. This guide walks you through enabling it on a subscription form, customizing the confirmation email, and tracking conversions in your dashboard.

Why use it: Double opt-in confirms that the email address is real and that the owner actually wants your messages. The result is fewer bounces, fewer spam complaints and better inbox placement.

Step 1 — Open your subscription form

From your Mailpro dashboard go to Lists → Subscription forms and click on the form you want to update (or create a new one). Each list can have several forms with different opt-in settings.

Step 2 — Enable double opt-in

In the form editor open the Settings tab and switch on Double opt-in. Mailpro automatically creates a confirmation email with a unique token and a redirect URL.

Step 3 — Customize the confirmation email

Click Edit confirmation email and replace the default template with your branding. Keep it short and explicit:

ElementBest practice
Sender nameYour brand (e.g. “Mailpro Newsletter”)
Subject line“Please confirm your subscription” — under 50 characters
BodyOne short paragraph + one prominent button
Button text“Confirm my subscription”
FooterBrand info + opt-out reminder

Step 4 — Customize the “thank you” pages

Mailpro lets you set two destination pages: one shown right after submitting the form (“please check your inbox”) and one after the confirmation click (“you’re in!”). Use both to set expectations and reduce drop-off.

Common pitfall: If your confirmation email is filtered as spam, no one confirms. Make sure SPF, DKIM and DMARC are configured for the sending domain — see our deliverability page.

Step 5 — Track and optimize

Open the form analytics in Lists → Forms → Reports to see your confirmation rate. A healthy rate is 60–80%. If you fall below 50%, the confirmation email is likely the issue (deliverability, subject line, or unclear button).

Compliance benefits

Each confirmation is logged with timestamp, IP and user agent — the exact evidence the GDPR requires for proof of consent. Read more in our opt-in vs double opt-in FAQ.
