No — a full mailbox is not a permanent badmail. It's a soft bounce, treated as a temporary error by Mailpro.
Soft bounce vs hard bounce
| Type | Cause | Mailpro action |
|---|---|---|
| Soft bounce | Mailbox full, server down | Automatic retries |
| Hard bounce | Non-existent address | Immediate block |
What happens after several soft bounces?
- Mailpro retries delivery for 24-72 hours
- If the recipient empties their inbox, the email is delivered
- If the error persists across several campaigns, the address is promoted to hard bounce
- It then joins the badmail list and is no longer contacted
How to reduce soft bounces
- Avoid multiple campaigns to the same base on the same day
- Send B2B during business hours
- Keep email weight under 100 KB HTML
- Clean inactive contacts older than 6 months
