Last year, the pharmaceutical and staffing industries had some of the worst email marketing opening rates of any industry with pharmaceutical industry having a 9.93% opening rate and the staffing industry having a 10.37% opening rate. This could be due to a variety of factors such as poor subject lines, lack of relevancy, or content that was too promotional in nature.

It’s essential for companies in these industries to set themselves apart from the competition and make sure their emails are tailored to their target audiences. People seem more interested in opening restaurant (34.42%) and political newsletters (34.07%).
