Technically you can configure a Gmail or Hotmail address as a sender in Mailpro. It is no longer recommended, however — Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft now enforce strict DMARC policies.
Why it's a problem
| Issue | Consequence |
|---|---|
| Strict DMARC policy | Auto-rejection by Gmail / Yahoo |
| No custom SPF / DKIM | Low reputation, spam folder |
| Unprofessional look | Less trust, lower opens |
Best practice
Use an address on your own domain: [email protected], [email protected]. Then configure:
- SPF — authorises Mailpro to send for your domain
- DKIM — cryptographically signs your emails
- DMARC — protects against spoofing
No domain yet? Some options
- Buy a domain via Namecheap, Google Domains, GoDaddy (≈ $10/year)
- Use a sending subdomain:
news.yourbusiness.com - Mailpro supports every DNS provider
