Yes — not only can your subscribers unsubscribe, they must be able to. Every commercial email you send through Mailpro automatically includes an unsubscribe link, plus the RFC 8058 one-click headers Gmail and Yahoo have required since 2024. The recipient is always one click away from leaving, and that’s by design.
Three ways recipients can unsubscribe
1. The visible link in the email footer (auto-inserted by Mailpro). 2. The native unsubscribe button next to your sender name in Gmail / Yahoo / Outlook (RFC 8058 one-click). 3. Replying with «unsubscribe» — some recipients still try this; Mailpro’s reply-handler captures the intent and processes the opt-out.
What happens after an unsubscribe
The contact moves to your account’s suppression list immediately. Future campaigns to that address are blocked at the platform level — you literally cannot accidentally email them again. The unsubscribe is logged with timestamp, IP and the email it came from, providing full audit trail for GDPR and CAN-SPAM compliance.
What you can’t do
1. You cannot remove the unsubscribe link — the platform refuses to send messages without one (legally required under GDPR Art. 21, CAN-SPAM, CASL). 2. You cannot manually re-subscribe an unsubscribed contact — only they can resubscribe through your form. 3. You cannot bypass the suppression list to send to one specific address «just this once».
What you CAN do
1. Customize the unsubscribe link wording (within reason — it must remain identifiable as an unsubscribe link). 2. Replace the Mailpro-hosted unsubscribe page with your own (via custom redirect URL). 3. Run a re-engagement campaign before unsubscribed contacts get removed. 4. Provide preference-center options (less frequent emails, specific topics) before the «unsubscribe from all» choice.
Make leaving easy — your reputation depends on it
Mailpro’s unsubscribe management handles all three pathways and the suppression list automatically. Read more in can subscribers unsubscribe and subscriber unsubscribe.
